Nature Network – Development Phase

We will:​

Promote the recording of animal and plant species through collaborating and testing the Nature Counts platforms from Sheffield Wildlife Trust and embedding the platform on the Cumbernauld Living Landscape website. ​

​Design a programme of community citizen science activities based on North Lanarkshire’s Biodiversity Action Plan  and Invasive Non-native Species survey (INNS) to enable local volunteers to support inclusive, participatory approaches to gathering data and mobilising action for nature. ​

​Develop a programme to deliver ecological traineeships will be developed focusing on local habitat and species accessible within Cumbernauld’s greenspaces and including topics such as water quality assessment, identifying and tackling INNS; use of yellow rattle (Rhinanthus minor) to restore wildflower grasslands.​

How we will deliver:​

Project partners The Conservation Volunteers, will identify new audiences and lead sessions connecting people, to nature through identification workshops, guided walks and consultations. These sessions will define the activities and audiences we will connect with during the delivery phase of Nurturing Natural Connections.​
