To help celebrate National Meadows Day This Saturday (2nd July) from 11am until 3pm we will be teaming up with Froglife's Dragonfinder project and Buglife to bring you some exciting (FREE!) activities at St. Maurice’s Pond.

Last weekend Cumbernauld Living Landscape along with the Edinburgh and Coigach-Assynt Living Landscapes had the pleasure of hosting several stalls at Gardening Scotland at the Ingliston Royal Highland Centre. We were situated in the Living Garden exhibit alongside the wonderful One Planet Picnic Pocket Gardens designed and built by Eco School students throughout Scotland.
North Lanarkshire Council Countryside Ranger - Davie "The axeman" MacFarlane
Just before the Easter break students from Greenfaulds and St Maurice’s high schools were out learning a bit about woodcraft from the North Lanarkshire Council (NLC) Countryside Rangers. Each student carved a tent peg fashioned out of green ash and hazel rods under the expert tutelage of Davie and Jamie. The students also had a go at using a shave horse and a wood axe.

Next time you are in Tesco think of St Maurice's pond and cast your vote to help us improve the area. As part of the Natural Connection project the Scottish Wildlife Trust has been working with St Maurice’s High School to raise awareness of St Maurice’s Pond and encourage local young people to make the improvements. The pupils have already made a start

The beautiful Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Cumbernauld Glen, was the showcase for our first ever Halloween night nearly three weeks ago now. Seeing how much effort it took to plan, organise and deliver got me thinking about all the work in the background that also helped it become such a success. Little is thought about the background works, they fade into comparison of the fun had but without them, quite simply, the event would not have been able to take place.
